When I saw this one, I let out a holler! I love it!
Our newest Super Folder is 7-year-old Cooper. This dude isn’t afraid to use a little tape if it helps him make awesome Origami. This C3P0 is seriously wonderful and Coop’s got other figures, too! Watch for lots more from this Super Folder!
Check out these Yodas made at Penn Yan Public Library….
These dudes are fierce! And is it my imagination or does one of them have a beard?
Origami Chewie and Han by Super-Folder Chad!
The folding is great and the faces are perfect! Great job!
Super-Folder makes resolution to fold 1,000 Origami Yodas in 2011. I offer BIG prize! Want to try, too? #starwars
Jack — a long-time Super-Folder — has decided to go big in 2011. He’s making a resolution to fold 1,000 Origami Yodas! Here is the pledge he’s using:
1,000 ORIGAMI YODAS
IF JACK WOULD LIKE TO MAKE 1,000 YODAS, HE MUST FALLOW THE RULES
HE MAY ONLY START ON JANUARY 1ST 2011
HE MAY ONLY END ON DECEMBER 31ST 2011
IF HE DOSE NOT HAVE EDZACTLY 1,000 YODAS ON DECEMBER 31ST 11:59 PM, ALL OF THE YODAS THAT HE HAS MADE IN 2011 MUST BE THROWN AWAY.
ALL THE YODAS MUST BE SIMPLE YODAS, IF THEY ARE NOT, THEY DO NOT COUNT.
ALL THE YODAS HE MAKES MUST BE LABELED WITH A NUMBER TO COUNT.
As far as I know I’m the only person who has ever folded 1,000 Origami Yodas. I folded them before the book came out as a publicity stunt. (It seemed to work!)
Of course, this is a variation on the tradition of folding 1,000 origami cranes for luck or the fulfillment of a wish.
Folding 1,00o of anything is a real test of patience. And you will feel a real accomplishment when you are done.
Also, if Jack — or anyone else — manages to do it I will give them a significant prize! How significant? How about getting your name in the credits of an Origami Yoda book?*
Maybe some of you other Super Folders would like to give it a try??
If you’d like to print your own version of Jack’s pledge, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.
Good Luck, Jack! And any other Super-Folders who decide to give it a try!
*Adult permission/verification plus photo may be required as proof of completion. Prize subject to change… but will still be awesome!
At a recent author visit, a kid gave me this Origami Darth Vader which he said a friend had made. On the back is only the name “Carl.”
Carl, whoever you are, this is great!
Hey, everybody, it’s Jabba’s Joke Palace!
Q: What is Jabba’s least favorite ballet?
A: The Huttcracker!
LAUGH! Or Jabba will feed you to the Rancor!
Q: What does Santa Droid say?
A: C3P-Ho Ho HO!
LAUGH! Or Jabba will have you frozen in carbonite!!!
Q: Even though Jabba is naughty, he’s never gotten a stocking full of coal! Why not?
A: No feet = no stockings!
LAUGH! Or Jabba will throw you in the Sarlacc Pit!
If you have any good Holiday Jokes for Jabba, leave them in the comments!!
Here’s Christopher with two Origami Yodas, one of them very nicely colored!
Creative Super-folders make great Star Wars Origami: Chewie, Mace Windu, Darth Maul, a Twi’lek and General Grievous!
During a recent school visit, I met some Super-folders who showed me what they’d been making! Wow! I could hardly believe it!
Super-folder Nikolai showed me this fantastic Origami Chewbacca…
For the rest, I got their names, but not who did which one…
So here are the creations of Morgan, Emilio, William and Ryan…
Wow! This is how to do it folks… don’t wait for instructions just go for it!
I just realized that next month at this time my BIG SECRET that I’ve been sitting on won’t be a secret any more!
The poll has been great! There’s been over 6000 votes! It’s been great to find out who you readers and super-folders want to be the star of the next book…
So far Vader is winning the contest by a mile…. but I’ve been very interested to see how popular Chewbacca is! R2D2 and Luke are also really popular. Ackbar and Clone Trooper have done pretty well, too.
So, I know that many of you will be happy when you find out who the star is. For the rest of you … don’t worry, there’s talk of an Origami Yoda 3! And now that I know who you want to read about, I’ll do my best to make you happy, too.
It’s not 100% Star Wars around here… only 99%.
That leaves room for awesome stuff like this cool Spongebob origami puppet by Superfolder Joshua!
