Talk to Tom: Week of July 11

Hey everybody!
I’m getting REALLY excited about Jabba.
And I should have the details on the Jabba launch tour very soon. Just like the book, it’s going to be a SURPRISE! (Not where I was expecting at all!)

Now…. any other questions?

  SF Austin wrote @

Tom, can I somehow, in any way, send you my Emergency Jabba the Puppett that’s only 3 folds?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

In 3 weeks…. or so. Stay tuned!

  Noah wrote @

Tom, what is your favorite piece of origami you’ve made? (Besides Yoda, of course.)

  OZ-IGAMI wrote @

I know i am not Tom but MY favorites that i made are my origami snow trooper and my version os a super easy, super cool, super STOOKY 10 fold yoda

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Jabba…

Grievous…

And I’m proud of my stormtrooper, because it took years of trying before I got it right.

  SF AustinM wrote @

I’m proud of the Grievous you made me!

  Superfolder Mikey wrote @

Hey Mister Angleberger! I was wondering, will you come to Washington someday? That would be so cool!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

DC? Could be November.

The state? That will be a while… I just did Seattle trip in January.

  aaron wrote @

Tom,in a comment somewhere you said origami yoda will be 6 books but it is not official. After jabba do you think the next book is the last?I sure hope not!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

IF it is six books, Art2D2 will not count as one of them.

  SF AustinM wrote @

Can you do nine books for the new trilogy? Maybe a Starkiller or Jek-14 book (if they’re in the movies)?

  sf turtle12 wrote @

I think that if there is going to be 6 books, based on the info Tom gave us,5 will be Jar Jar(Caroline), and 6 will be Luke(Tommy).

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

tom can i do a interview with you here

  starwarsfolder12 wrote @

Tom, when is the next time you visit Canada?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

It’ll be a while, I’m afraid. I made 3 trips recently… Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver

  starman wrote @

will you come to california

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

It will be awhile, I’m afraid…

  OZ-IGAMI wrote @

That would be TOTALLY ROCKETS! If you do, Tom, stop by the spruce grove library.

nick and his foldy wan kenobi wrote @

  Sf Robby wrote @

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

  SF cau2134 wrote @

WHAAAAAAT???

  Purse Girl wrote @

Are you going to reserve the sign at the bookstore

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

To tell you the truth… I’ve got too many giant cardboard signs already.
Not only for my books but also a giant Jackie Chan, Rumble in the Bronx, cardboard display…

  The Evil Jawa wrote @

When will you be doing a signing near Cburg? I got HH today!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

  oman276 wrote @

that was a big promotoinal stunt. everything is fine now!

  Super Folder Mike wrote @

Tom is jabba a protagonist or an antagonist?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

What do you think?

  SF Kawin wrote @

The description for the book on amazon says jabba has to DEAL with origami yoda so…jabba is an antagonist.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I thought it said Yoda had to deal with Jabba….

Anyway, it was hard to summarize everything for the summary without giving any spoilers. So don’t put too much stock in it.

  SF Austin wrote @

What happened to Superfolder Artoo in the first place? Nobody ever told me!! Although, I am glad that after whatever happened to him, he’s ok.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I don’t think anything happened to him except that someone made up some stories.

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

hi tom can i do a inter view with you here

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Yes, ask anything you want…

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

tom when will you be visiting los angeles

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I was just in LA for the LA Times Book Fest…. so it could be a long time until I go back.

  SF AustinM wrote @

What happened to SF Artoo?

  Sf Robby wrote @

He said he was typing with Luke hands. He probably meant that he was typing fast, but someone said he had robot hands from a car crash. I know it’s ake because my dad is a nurse and he said that they still haven’t made those.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Someone was spreading very silly stories…

  SuperFolder Megan/Phred wrote @

actually if im right artoo himself said he got robotic arms i belive

  rhys(reese) wrote @

  cheese wrote @

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

  Luis santos wrote @

sam the origami man wrote @

y did he say DC does he mean Dan Cater (hes a boss rugby player) OH YEAH I JUST GOT A STRANGE CASE OF ORIGAMI YODA AND ART2

  Sf Robby wrote @

Yoda, why is my sister mean to me for no reason?

  SF AustinM wrote @

Let me answer this:
If older she is, bad surprise to her you might be. Ask her you must if younger she is.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Maybe reason she is. Ask her you should…

  Sf Robby wrote @

She is younger and she acts like a jerk and says its because she “loves” me.

  superfolderethanmon wrote @

Hey tom if you get SAoJtP and if your gonna give it away then can you give it away to me please?!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Sorry… these are top secret!

  Star Wars Bob wrote @

Tom,is the new Jabba a different design than the original?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Slightly… but it’s basically the same… two double pleats and fold the rest into a triangle…

  DJ Fett wrote @

Tom, there was this really mean hacker (Was once ???, then The True Hacker) who deleted two of my sites. Can you try to blacklist him?

PS: Have you seen my new site?

  SF Austin wrote @

He might be blacklisted from the EU.

  DJ Fett wrote @

Yep. Good job too, Austin!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Is it someone who is currently posting? If he/she posts again let me know and I will ask Sam to take care of it…

  SF Austin wrote @

His parents found out about it, and he can’t use his computer anymore, plus he’s grounded.

  Sf Robby wrote @

Who is grounded

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

please tom?

  SF Quentin wrote @

When will you be in Columbus, OH?

  SF Quentin wrote @

Sorry you already answered on the other one, Never mind! wait will you be in Ohio at all?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Yes, I might be coming to Ohio… details soon!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Maybe…. details soon!

  SuperFolder Megan/Phred wrote @

Do you know if you will be coming to Pennsylvania anytime soon?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Sorry M/Ph! I thought the Jabba trip might do some of Penn, but it looks like we’re heading somewhere else…

  mavrick12 wrote @

Some one please go to my blog new post later

  Anonymous wrote @

Tom What your favorite color And I am not the scammer.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Purple…. But that;s not why Dwight says it!

  SF Austin wrote @

Tom, do you know what the Teen Titans are?

  SF AustinM wrote @

I do! Oh my gosh, I haven’t aren’t thee original episodes since I was six! I haven’t seen Teen Titans Go yet, the only shows I watch on Cartoon Network are Pokémon and Legends of Chima.

  SF Austin wrote @

Yay! You like Teen Titans! My favorite is Raven. Who’s yours?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Tie between Raven and Beast Boy.

  SF AustinM wrote @

Beast Boy by a mile!

I only watch the Amazing World of Gumball and The LEGO Star Wars specials there. Then I watch Food Network, DIY Network, and HGTV. And possibly a Big Bang Theory, or a movie special on this channel that only shows movies in the afternoon (GO ENIGO MONTOYA!). Except for those and maybe some original Star Trek episodes (they are SO weird, but SO good.), I don’t watch TV.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Of course!

  SF jimmy rocks wrote @

so tom, when will you have a book about jar jar.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Honestly, I don;t think there will ever be a JarJar book.
I;m not one of those JarJar haters… he just doesn’t fit with the story that’s happening at McQuarrie right now…

  starwarsfolder12 wrote @

Hmm. No JarJar? CROSS HIM OUT, FOLKs! NO JARJAR!

  Sf Robby wrote @

My dad says that any jar jar mini figures in our house get burned. I don’t like jar jar.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

But he likesa yoosa!

I don’t like JarJar or the Prequel Trilogy much either, so because of that all of the boy Star Wars fans hate on me. For me, it’s just JarJar’s accent that’s annoying.

  SF jimmy rocks wrote @

tom, if your done with the book,Jabba the puppett(see Jabba the puppet sneak peek 2) then shouldn’t you send the book out.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

The publisher is printed a million copies! They sent me some early… but they are sending the rest out to bookstores and other places very soon! In time for the Aug. 6 sale date!

  Anonymous wrote @

When are you gonna make a Jabba video

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

In about 1 1/2 weeks///

  Super Folder Mike wrote @

Tom what happens to the Ackbar instructions

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Are they missing? they should be under HOW TO FOLD…

  SF Austin wrote @

Tom, did you ever have to deal with someone like The True Hacker before?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Yes, we’ve had a few hacker problems on this site. Luckily nothing terrible.

  SF LegoGabe wrote @

Tom, I read the description of SAoJtP in Star Wars Insider and I was wondering, is that really the truth about if Jabba is evil or good or if it’s an even bigger suprise?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I’m not sure exactly what it said in Insider…. Can you quote it and then I’ll maybe be able to tell you..

  SF Nimbus wrote @

I was rererererere-rereading Fortune Wookiee today, and in the acknowledgements you put the State of Texas. I live near Dallas, and what inspired/helped you there? Also, I am planning to launch the ULTIMATE SUPERFOLDER SITE soon.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I spent a lot of time in Texas while working on FW, because of the Bluebonnet contest. Then I was lucky enough to win the contest.

  SDA wrote @

sorry I’ve been gone a long time. I’ve just been so busy lately…… so, tom, what is your favorite thing a superfolder sent you?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Oh, man… that’s tough. I have received some amazing letters, artwork and origami.

  SF Austin wrote @

Tom, do you have a job besides being an author?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Not anymore. I used to be a newspaper reporter and then a columnist, but I quite around the time Darth Paper came out…

  Michelle Melville wrote @

Where is the tour going to be? By the way, after Jabba you should do a book about sandclawers. We could call it something like “The Jawas’s spare parts of the Sandpaper”.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Good idea!

Details about tour coming soon!

  Sf Hunter wrote @

Tom, are you going to Port Orange

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I’m afraid not…

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

tom will you make more then 8 books

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

See my answer regarding 10 books…

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

hey tom do you plan on making more then 10 books

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Really hard to answer that. Some days yes, some days no.

  SF jabbalover33 wrote @

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I was waiting a long time, too! Don’t be bashful, just ask your questions and I’ll try to answer them.

  stooky folds wrote @

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Glad you’re back!

  stooky folds wrote @

dude when did you post that?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

er…. post what?

  SFnutegunray wrote @

Tom will the book cover jabba instrux ever be put on the sites “how to fold”
section because that tail has been troubling me , the pleats I am okay with
and the same with the body but I can’t get the darn tail

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

The tail? Hmmm, it’s just a normal fold at a 45 degree angle. Well, the instrux will be in the book in a couple of weeks and I’ll be putting up a video, too. Stay tuned!

  SFnutegunray wrote @

THANK YOU !

  Star Wars Bob wrote @

Tom,what’s your favorite episode?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Five!

  SuperFolder JC wrote @

Hey Tom!
I saw in the comments that Pittsburgh won’t work out this time around……..

Do you think you could maybe film Mr. GoodCleanFun and Soapy cameo in Origami Yoda: The Series when the time comes, and email the footage to me? (If you still wanna be in the series, of course….)

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I’d like to do that!

I’ve read William Shakespeare’s Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope! It was so good and so funny!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I totally agree!

  SF Twinkie0121 wrote @

Tom,I am new to this site and have an emergency kirigami GREVIOUS and
Wondering if I can send it to you in a letter and instrux with GREVIOUS
And when are you coming to Raliegh?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

I’ll be in Raleigh next weekend! Maybe you can come to the show and bring Grievous!

  SF jimmy rocks wrote @

Could I please have a Jabba the puppet book.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

You’ll have to buy one or borrow one from the library, I’m afraid. I am not actually a supplier of books, just a writer of them.

  SF Fisto wrote @

Then why can’t you send a single page to every one in the world so they get a sneak peak at the book

  SF jimmy rocks wrote @

when are you coming to texas.

  Sf Robby wrote @

Tom, in DPSB Sara said Dwight threw down the mind trick letter from his window. In TSotFW, Dwight says the windows are nailed down. WHAT????

  SF AustinM wrote @

Well, his mom may have nailed them shut AFTER that.

  Sf Robby wrote @

Let’s see what Tom says. Maybe it was just a goof.

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

SPOILER ALERT. Don’t read if you haven’t finished Fortune Wookiee.

Sara was lying. Dwight never thre her the Fortune Wookiee at all.

This was a mistake she made, which helped Harvey solve the mystery.

  Drogo wrote @

But what about the letter from DPSB? The one saying OY was fake. How did he give that to Sara?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Not through the window, I don;t think. He could have passed it over the fence…

  SF AustinM wrote @

Yeah, I knew that, but what about the mind trick letter? Did Dwight throw it to Sara before his windows were nailed shut?

  Sf Robby wrote @

Why doesn’t OY eat cheese? Does he like it?

  SF Fisto wrote @

He probably doesn’t

  SF fisto wrote @

Tom! When can I send you my origami Kit-Fisto

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Webmaster Sam says everything is going well. That means the new system should be up by Aug. 6!

  SF Fisto wrote @

Tom,in the next book does anybody in the next book use Kit Fisto?

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Stay tuned for a sneak peek on that very subject….

  sf John wrote @

I Beat Kellen Has Him! In art2, when he had dreadlocks, (might have been FW actually) he had a ” I heart kit fisto” shirt
Dreadlocks= tentacles
Kellen and kit fisto!

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

Most impressive! Not correct, but still impressive!

  SF jimmy rocks wrote @

  Tom Angleberger wrote @

They better not!

  stooky folds wrote @

and that fortune wookiee print was easy to fold if the jabba the puppet was a print you would have to fold it with the right folding and people will get mad becuse they keep on failing and the ink gets mess up and there parents woud have to pay a lot of money for the ink and wait a minute i can just post the paper for jabba the puppet a great idea :D
