Re-folding the cover Origami Yoda

For a long time I’ve been wanting to learn to fold another Origami Yoda like the one on the cover of my book, The Strange Case of Origami Yoda. When I made that one, I didn’t write down how it was done. I’ve been opening it up a bit and trying to figure out how it works. I haven’t.

Here are some attempts…

The original Origami Yoda from the book cover is in the center. Around it are various attempts. At the bottom, I was starting to get the hang of it. (These were inspired by the “mistakes” some people have made trying to fold the simple Yoda. Notice that the robe works in a somewhat Kawahata way.)

So I got some official Origami Yoda paper and made this…

This one is definitely different from the original, but I like him. And I should be able to write instructions for it. Best of all, it’s not much harder than the simple Yoda made with the book’s instructions, just takes a little more fiddling. Stay tuned…

Did you ever write the directions for this? This one is my favorite. I’m going to read the book to my 8th grade English classes, and would like to have this version to help me, I would.
The book is wonderful BTW.

Amazing! You must be a master at Origami. Ages 11-15 can definetly make models like this! I especially like the Yoda folded with special paper!
